Applying Green Technology, Star Energy won Six Subroto Awards

All three power plants of Star Energy geothermal power, including Star Energy Geothermal Salak, Star Energy Geothermal Darajat II, and Star Energy Geothermal (Wayang WIndu) won six Subroto Awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) on Tuesday (29/9).

Star Energy Geothermal Salak, Ltd., was awarded Aditama with the highest score under category of Geothermal Pollution and/or Environmental Damage Control Performance, Aditama rating on K3 & Geothermal Engineering Implementation Performance category and won First Place as the the Largest Geothermal PNBP Contributor.

In addition, Star Energy Geothermal Darajat II, Limited got the highest Aditama’s score on the K3 & Geothermal Engineering Implementation Performance category and the Aditama award on Geothermal Pollution and/or Environmental Damage Control Performance. Meanwhile, Star Energy Geothermal (Wayang Windu), Ltd. won the Aditama award on Geothermal Pollution and/or Environmental Damage Control Performance.

Hendra Soetjipto Tan, Group CEO of Star Energy Geothermal (SEG) said that the achievement of these three assets is a highlight to the company’s operational excellence and commitment in managing environmental and safety aspects throughout the Company’s operations. “We always try to maintain the superior performance of our operations, one of which is by using advanced technologies to minimize environmental impact,” said Hendra Tan.

One of the advanced technology that currently being developed by Star Energy Geothermal is the Binary Plant in Salak. Benefits of Binary Plant including to minimize footprint in conservation area by using existing Right of Way. It is also able to extracting heat from hot brine and minimize plant maintenance.

“We are also very proud that Star Energy Geothermal Salak, Ltd. was able to win 1st place for the Largest Contribution in the Geothermal PNBP category. This demonstrates the extensive benefits of PLTP Salak for the community, both in terms of electricity supply and non-tax revenues,” added Hendra Tan.

SEG currently manages three PLTPs with a total capacity of 875 MW, spread across West Java, namely in Salak, Darajat and Wayang Windu. The three PLTP operating areas are located in mountainous areas and protected forests, making SEG continue to be committed to carrying out restoration and conservation programs with support from local governments and implementing partners who are competent in their fields, combined with community empowerment to ensure sustainable operations, environmental conservation, and social benefits in the all operations area.

The Subroto Award is the highest award given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia to individuals, companies and stakeholders who are considered to have contributed and earned achievements in the field of Energy and Mineral Resources in Indonesia, including the commitment to maintain and ensure Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Protection.
